The trillions we spend overseas drains money from our economy, pouring petrodollars into the hands of those who would like nothing better than to see America suffer.  Our addiction to foreign oil is an economic, foreign policy and national security disaster just waiting to happen.   And our leadership in Washington has been doing nothing about it.  It’s time for a revolution in the energy we use as big as the revolution now rocking the Middle East.

and the Economic Decline of 2011

 

When the economy tanked in 2007-2008, most economists blamed subprime mortgages and the overextension of consumer credit for the collapse.  But some argued that the impact of oil prices on consumer spending was the straw that broke the camel’s back.  

 

Now that retail sales have dropped (for the first time in 10 months) what will be the impact of energy prices on consumer spending in 2011 and what is Washington doing to stave off another economic collapse?
